Unrelated images showing in Blog2print
-
When i compare the digital version of my blog to the blog2print preview, all kinds of unrelated images are showing up in the print version. I am wondering if the fact that I merged two blogs has anything to do with it.
Both blogs were daily posts that I did throughout the whole year. -
@garywpickering could you confirm what site you’re referring to? Also, if the images aren’t on your site at all, can you get in touch with blog2print’s support and ask them where they’re picking those up from?

This what I got from Blo2Print

Hi Gary,
We took a look at the HTML of your blog for that June 29, 2019 ‘Snowbirds’ and found that the URL of the photo seen in the Blog2Print preview is actually hard coded in the blog post:
Using your Blog2Print preview as a guide, you will need to go through your blog and inspect any other places where images like this appear. You will need to remove all unwanted images from the HTML of your blog. After, you can go back to http://www.blog2print.com to generate a new blog book to reflect those changes.
Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Hi Gary –
We can take a look at the HTML of the post through the text editor (versus the visual one). Thanks for the image link, it is helpful. I just need to know what post that image was published on so I can look through the HTML for you.
-
That very kind of you, but my problem is there are dozens of images beginning in late June 2019.
Is there a way I can look at the HTML hard coded images myself. Because I know ones apply and which ones dont.I can see some HTML images when I use the WordPress editor code option, but I cannot see the unrelated images that show up in the blog2print version.
The digital WordPress version of my blog Lifeunfolding.video.blog is fine and normally I wouldnt worry about the print version. However, I have done a print book of my daily blogs for the last six years and I want to continue with it so my grandchildren can look at them years after.
-
Thanks. So here’s the post I’m seeing with that image in it:
https://lifeunfolding.video.blog/2018/10/06/big-fight/Does that look right?
-
Noting the image is real, and on our end it’s only appearing in that one post.
Are there other images you’d like us to check?
I’m wondering now too if you had “Related Posts” on with images showing… is that a possibility?

That photo is correct for that post of October 6, 2018. But it also shows up in the blog2print book for the Snowbirds post of june 29, 2019. The wordpress digital version for June 29, 2019 does not have the image from Oct 6.
By way of some background, I did merge two wordpress blogs sometime ago and when I did that, I think I clicked on download media button. I think thats how the unwanted images somehow got into the merged blog.
I just want to ne able to delete those unwanted images from the blog2print version. Emma From blog2print suggested that I would haVe to compare their version with the wordpress html version to correct.
But when I look at the wordpress version for the Snowbirds post of June 29, 2019, I only see html code for the correct picture of the planes flying.
I think i messed it up pretty good. May not be able to fix.
But if you ponder this anymore, any suggestion you have would be appreciated.
If i was to re-post a copy of the posts in question and then delete the offending posts, do you think that might work?
Desperate times call for desperate measures….lol

That photo is correct for that post of October 6, 2018. But it also shows up in the blog2print book for the Snowbirds post of june 29, 2019. The wordpress digital version for June 29, 2019 does not have the image from Oct 6.
So that would be https://lifeunfolding.video.blog/2019/06/29/snowbirds-2/? It will really help us investigate this if you can provide direct links to the post you refer to so we can check them on our end.
The image at https://lifeunfoldingvideo.files.wordpress.com/2019/03/ae8f6-blogger-image-1794704113.jpg?w=300 from the post, https://lifeunfolding.video.blog/2018/10/06/big-fight/, does not appear anywhere in the post at https://lifeunfolding.video.blog/2019/06/29/snowbirds-2/
You can check this yourself by opening that post in the editor and switching to the HTML view.
However, if I view your site’s HTML using the browser inspector I do see the other image referenced there, and it appears the snowbirds image is referencing an image attachment ID 204, which matches the boxing image in your media library at https://lifeunfoldingvideo.wordpress.com/wp-admin/upload.php?item=204 – the snowbirds image ID is actually 4988 at https://lifeunfoldingvideo.wordpress.com/wp-admin/upload.php?item=4988
By way of some background, I did merge two wordpress blogs sometime ago and when I did that, I think I clicked on download media button. I think thats how the unwanted images somehow got into the merged blog.
All that would have done is import the other site’s images into your media library. Importing cannot modify the content of any existing post on the site. That’s simply not possible.
Was the Snowbirds post one of those that were imported? It’s possible that on the site where that image was originally used the image ID was 204, but at import to this site the image was assigned a new ID as the 204 ID was already in use for the boxing image.
That should have updated in the post itself as well, but that might have failed if something went wrong during the import. Removing the image from the post and re-inserting it from the media library should fix that. You don’t need to delete and re-post the entire post.
If other posts are similarly affected, you’ll need to follow that process for them as well.

Thank you so much for working with me on this.
In playing around with the editor version of my blog , I have discovered that by simply tapping on photos In a particular post, if there is a problem, that photo changes to another photo……one that is being picked up by blog2print….and are unrelated to that post.
An example of this can be seen for my post of Nov 13, 2019. When you first loom at the post, a picture of Minnie, our cat is there.
Tap on the photo and it changes to a picture of a dishwasher which is what blog2print is picking up.
So what I am thinking of doing is just checking all my posts Photos since June 29th and simply deleting them so I can get the blog2print version printed.
I know my posts will nit have the ohotos I want, but I am not computer savvy enough with HTML to tackle it any other way.
When I lokk in the media libraries, I don’t even see the offending pictures.
Maybe you could try this tapping the picture thing and see if there is another way.
In the meantime, I wont proceed with removing the pics fir the next few days in case you have a chance to look at it.
Thanks again for all your effort.

Hi,
I’ve tried that and was not able to reproduce what you’re describing have a look:
https://d.pr/i/FVoulnYou’ll notice in the video that I’m also clicking on the Replace button – click there and reupload the image you want to display and Update the post. After this is done, try to pint it again via blog2print, does that work properly?
Also, Minnie is gorgeous <3
-
Lol…..yes Minnie is gorgeous for being 21 years old !
Thank you for looking at this. I will look for the replace option and if that doesnt work, i will simply delete the photo in question and re-insert from my camera roll photos.
You have been extremely helpful and I very much appreciate your efforts.

Kudos to WordPress and Blog2print Staff
Today I spent most of the day trying to straighten out an issue with this blog. When I attempted to submit it for printing, I found many pictures attached to posts that were unrelated to the post.
No doubt I created this dilemma myself, but I don’t know how.
After several e-mails with Blog2print and WordPress, i finally came up with a work-around and it is now ready for final editing by MY Jane.
I am extremely impressed with the efforts of staff from both those companies. Very willing to help. Timely responses and clearly interested in coming up with a solution to my issue.
Thanks to all!Gary
