Unsuccessful ownloading WP 2.7.1
-
I have an existing blog that I have not posted yet and tried to upgrade to WP 2.7.1. The 2.7.1 download went to a folder in my computer and then I clicked “Extract the file” (like the directions said) using the Extraction Wizard. But, it still didn’t complete the download. I could use some advice. Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You need to inquire over at wordpress.ORG where you downloaded the software. This is the wordpress.COM free hosting service and we do not have to install or upgrade anything. It is all taken care of for us so we know nothing about the downloads and such.

o.K. Thanks for the input. I will ask WP.org. It’s just confusing because of all the directions pertaining to Downloading/upgrading WP 2.7.1. Thanks, again. Later

Oh, by the way, can you tell me how I can organize the widgets in my sidebar the way I want them organized. For example, a widget about WP tutorial I want to bring up from the very bottom to the second ladder of the widgets on my sidebar. I hope I explained that correctly.

You need to inquire over at wordpress.ORG, but basically after you add widgets you drag them into the order that you want in appearance > widgets and then click the “save changes” button.

Oh. Wow. That was simple. I went to Wp.org and it’s asking me to sign up with a web host. I’m not ready to publish yet. Just practicing. What should I do and does the web hosting cost money?
-
You will have to get a domain name, and then hire a web host to use the wordpress.ORG software. There is a lot of good information over there in the “docs” section of the site.
When domain registration and hosting are included, you can expect an average cost of around $10 to $100 per month – or more depending on bandwidth and storage requirements. You also have to do all the installation, upgrading, troubleshooting, maintenance and backups. Here at wordpress.COM, all of that is taken care of for you, but you have to live within the TOS and limitations here.

I have 12 widgets in my sidebar. When I went to Widgets under appearance it only lists 4 (common widgets; Pages, meta, search, and somethin else). So, I can’t drag what is not showing. Where is it?

I’m trying to drag my link categories into the order I would like but it’s not cooperating. How?

You’re playing with the self-hosted version of wordpress. You need to talk to http://wordpress.ORG/support about that version.
