Unsure how to set up a wordpress.com site, w/ a URL I already own and host

  Hey Everybody,

  I am super new to all of this, and I purchased a URL (GoDaddy) and am currently hosting it (HostGator). However, idk what to do next. I want to install the G-suite plugin (or line of code) so I can start using that email. I originally created a free blog w/ my URL +.wordpress.com on it. Now I’m trying to upgrade, and am getting completely confused. Please help

  Hi @richardewalters3,

  There are two different platforms of WordPress(WordPress.com and WordPress.org). These two platforms is a cause of confusion. You can learn more about the differences in these guidelines:

  I noticed you have two websites melanienaghski.wordpress.com(WordPress.com) and
  melanienaghski.com(WordPress.org).

  I notice your WordPress.org site is still not up and running. To be able to use G-Suite, you will have to set it up by using a Plugin, here is useful search result to help you with it:

  If you would like to use G-Suite within WordPress.com with some Custom Domain this would be useful:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-g-suite-to-your-site/

  If you get issues with setting up your G-suite for your ORG site, you could try contacting your Hosting Provider(Godaddy) to help you with it.

  Thank you for the prompt response, I’m going to review this in detail and work through this.

  I’m hoping I could get a recommendation. I’m already using HostGator for melanienaghski.com, and I want to create my own website. Should I use wordpress.ORG and NOT wordpress.com?

  For clarity, I do NOT want melanienaghski.wordpress.com, I want to run melanienaghski.com using WordPress.

  Thank you for the reply. Using WordPress.com or WordPress.org is your choice. The link in my previous response explaining the difference will tell you the details, and you can decide the platform you would like to choose. Here is the link again:

  If you could explain to me what kind of website are you looking for, or if you have any examples I can take a closer look at it. The reason I ask you is if you would need custom domains, custom themes or custom design we could suggest you the options accordingly. WordPress.com has different Plans as per your needs. Whereas WordPress.org you would have to set up everything on your own hosting provider. Let me know your end goal, would be happy to suggest you the options.

  Using your custom domain(melanienaghski.com) is possible on WordPress.com by using the service Map your existing domain. You can use your custom domain on both the platforms of WordPress.
