Unsure what CNAME information is needed

    I’m told I need to fix my CNAME records. I would like the URL for my site to be http://www.prioryschool.dorset.sch.uk. I’ve mapped my domain prioryschool.dorset.sch.uk to my WordPress site (prioryschooldorsetschuk.wordpress.com), but the help section says www. is not necessary. I’m unsure what CNAME information is needed.

    Hi there,

    You’ll need to contact/log in at the registrar where your dorset.sch.uk domain is registered. Then you need to edit your domain’s DNS and add a CNAME record for “prioryschool” and that needs to point to your site’s free address, i.e. prioryschooldorsetschuk.wordpress.com

    The mapping on this side is added correctly, so once you add that CNAME, everything should work.

    On a different note, I notice you have a Business plan. That means you actually have access to live chat support via the contact for at https://wordpress.com/help/contact 24 hours during the week and US business hours on weekends. You don’t need to post in the forums if you need help with your site :)
