'Untrusted' wordpress blog address
-
Hi
I’ve just sent an email, to over 40 friends, in which I promote a blog which I personally set up: http://www.yaniq1.wordpress.comHowever, when I go to that email and click the link to the blog it says, ‘This connection is Untrusted’ – what??? how??? I’m guessing that all the 40 people see that error message too, which makes it look completely unprofessional. In fact, I’ve just realised that that wordpress blog address and 2 others are consistently in my emails as part of my signature – so maybe they are all untrusted too, I will go and check.
So is it something to do with the difference between using www. and http ? or is it just because of my machine (which is old)?
Then I read that WordPress… ‘doesn’t recommend creating email links because spammers often use scripts to scrape web sites looking for email addresses. If you create email links, you may see an increase in spam. We recommend using a contact form instead.’
Does anyone know what a ‘contact form’ is and how you can use it in an email?
Any ‘very basic level’ advice to stop me looking so unprofessional would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
JulieThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there Julie!
Can you kindly re-check the emails that you sent and see if the link you included looks like this:
https://www.yaniq1.wordpress.com/
Rather than this:
http://www.yaniq1.wordpress.com/
The “https://” prefix is most likely the culprit as this means you are trying to view a secure version of your site. Normally, browsers are set up to issue a warning to users before they proceed. Such errors can be easily avoided if you used the plain http:// protocol.
Let me know if you have further questions! Thanks.

Thanks Druesome,
I hadn’t actually used http: or https: – I had simply used http://www.yaniq1.wordpress.com i.e. exactly the way I would type it in the browser in order to find it and, after typing it like that, it showed up in blue so I assumed it was ok – I mean, why wouldn’t it be ok?Presumably that’s the problem and I need to use the http:// prefix everytime, but I don’t understand the logic of why it doesn’t work with www.

That is SO funny! my last message was about how I had simply typed: w w w . (without the spaces of course and without any http:// – and yet the http:// showed up!) How come the prefix shows up here and not on my email?

It may have something to do with your email program, not positive on that. :)
Actually, including the link http://yaniq1.wordpress.com/ would suffice without the “www”. Let me know if you encounter similar errors in future emails that you send. Thanks and best of luck!
