Unused Domain?
-
I have recently changed the title of my radio program back to what it originally was, Animal Matters. So, in order to make everything match, I wanted to add the domain Animal Matters to my existing blog and migrate everything over. However, someone is already using Animal Matters. But, when I go to that page (http://animalmatters.wordpress.com/) it appears that the person who registered it is clearly not using it. Is there any way I can contact them and ask them if I can have it, or do I contact WordPress?
My existing domain is http://animalpress.wordpress.com. Thanks for your help!

WordPress.com do not recycle unused or abandoned url’s. You could try leaving a comment on the blog to see if the current owner will transfer it to you, but I wouldn’t put much hope in this. Better just to choose another name.

You could buy the domain. The .com and .net are taken, but animalmatters.info is available for around 12 bucks a year. Then for ten bucks a year, you can have your wordpress.com blog serve at that URL as one of the premium services.
Try http://www.godaddy.com to look up and buy the domain.

I think GoDaddy charges about three times as much if you want your personal information kept private.

@vivianpage, I understood that :-) but on the basis that she couldn’t have the one she wanted, thought the option of having a non-wordpress.com domain might be her best option.
