Unusual spike in traffic

From last 2-3 days, I have been getting so many views on my site and I am wondering if everything is okay with my site!

Usually, I would get around 35 views per hour but last day for one hour I got around 600 views and then it became normal, today also, I think for one hour I got like 400 views and it became normal after that. One thing, I have been trying to promote my site via Facebook but I don’t see many people coming from Facebook under “Referrers” section of Stats.

Is everything okay with my site or someone playing with it?

    Thank you

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Well what does the REFERRERS section say?

It say most, about 90%, coming from ‘Search Engines’, under that it is Google Search etc.

I have just seen a huge spike in syndicated views also. Far more than could possibly be tallied under referrers.

Has the system been altered so as to pick up rss feed clicks?

    Is there another explanation?

I too have had a sudden spike in traffic. Last night my blog simonhawketts.com had its normal 800 or so views by about 10:00 pm and then in the space of about 20 minutes the views increased by about 17000. This all came from the US and didn’t seem to have an increase in visitor numbers so I’m pretty sure it’s not genuine. A post I published yesterday with some pictures in suddenly had about 500 views per picture.
The referrers section only has the usual sites google, wordpress reader, bing etc. Although it’s always nice to get extra views this is just an annoyance because it’s made it more difficult to see it there is any real growth in numbers
