Unwanted "-2" appearing at end of tag
-
One of my blog topics is fried chicken, and I tag all fried-chicken posts with “fried chicken” – that’s what I type in the Tag box in the editor. But for some reason the tag becomes “fried-chicken-2” when I save. I’m missing out on most fried-chicken tag searches as a result! How did my fried chicken tags end up as “fried-chicken-2” and, more importantly, how do I get rid of the -2? I’ve tried deleting the tag from the posts and re-adding it, but I get “fried-chicken-2” right back.

Your blog does not appear to be a food blog. Using any tag in a deceptive fashion is not recommended. Tags are meant to be relevant keywords found in the text of posts.

I did a Google search to find relevant post and located these with the tag http://blog.jimgrey.net/tag/fried-chicken-2/

I believe what happened is your created a fried -chicken tag twice. ie. you may have two tags when you go here > Posts > Tags
Please check there to see if that’s the case. -
I went to Posts>Tags and found only one fried chicken tag, but it resolved to fried-chicken-2. So I deleted it and added a new fried chicken tag to all of the relevant posts. Those tags don’t include the -2; problem solved. Thank you!
