Unwanted additional ad units!

  • Unknown's avatar

I’ve been part of WordAds for some years now and out of the blue, additional ad units started to appear at my site, right above its title and in the upper right column. I don’t want those to be place there. I did not check the box allowing additional ad units to be placed. I wanted them as they were before. What should I do and what is happening? Why the change?

    My site is: https://quenya101.com/

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Could someone from WordPress respond to this? I am having the same issue with intelnews.org and I cannot seem to find a way to disable some of the ads, as opposed to all ads.

  • Howdy –

There has been a recent (yesterday) change. Don’t worry, we can revert to the old view. Please confirm that you’d like me to do that on your site.

intelligencenews – Please confirm the site address that you need help with.

    Thank you, lizkarkoski for answering!!!

PLEASE, I confirm I want the old view reverted URGENTLY at my site, quenya101.com

I was considering taking all the ads out as I noticed the check box for additional ad units disappeared, leaving me no choice at all.

    PLEASE, please, please, revert it!

@liz: thank you for your response, but it’s not really that simple. The standard configuration for our blog is the one with a single ad at the end of the most recent post. In the past, we have been able to determine how many ads we wish to have displayed on our site. It now appears that the option that allows the user to determine the number of ads shown has disappeared. When you say “revert to the old view”, do you mean that I will be able to have the option to configure how many ads I want? Or do you mean that there the blog will go back to displaying a single ad? If it’s the latter, how do I change it if I want to display more ads? Is it something that I can control, or will I have to contact someone at WordPress? Ultimately, what is the rationale for this change? Thanks.

    Hello lizkaroski (or other staff)!
I also noticed this new ads on my site and – since the placement looks really awful and intrusive – have paused wordads for now because of this.
If possible, I would also like to have the ads only under the most recent article, as it was before.

  • Hello –

I’ve updated the WordAds setting for the following sites.

    pharmama.ch
    intelnews.org
    quenya101.com

This view is designed to help folks earn more money with their ads, by showing more ads on the site. We understand that it is not for everyone though and are able to revert your ad view back on our side.

staff-zinnia: Thank you for reverting us back to the regular view. Would you also respond to the question I posed earlier?

how do I change it if I want to display more ads? Is it something that I can control, or will I have to contact someone at WordPress?

    Thanks in advance.

  • or will I have to contact someone at WordPress?

That’s me :) Help is available at wordpress.com/help/contact/ when/if you run in to trouble and need a hand. Your plan determines where your support request is routed. No plan = forums, Plan = email and live chat support.

how do I change it if I want to display more ads?

The new ads view is designed to help you make more money with WordAds. But, if it’s not ideal for your site we are able to revert it back. It’s no longer possible to adjust the ad settings from the dashboard. To make a change you will need to get in touch with support and we can make the change for you.
