Unwanted advertisements on my blog

    I’m receiving unwanted ads on my blog after my posts. Is this standard? I have had a wordpress blog for over five years and have never had this problem. Please help.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • To support the service (and keep free features free), we sometimes run advertisements, and the agreement for this has been in our terms of service since 2006.

    We try hard to only run them in limited places. If you would like to completely eliminate ads from appearing on your blog, we offer the No-Ads Upgrade: http://en.support.wordpress.com/no-ads/

    WordPress.com has been running advertising on our free hosted blogs since 2006. Many bloggers do not know this because despite the fact they ticked the box required to get a free blog, they did not read the ToS. Many also do not read features page, or advertising entry in the support documents after registering their username and blog(s). Also note that as the ads do not display to us when we are logged in, and as many use browsers with ad blockers when logged out, they may not realize they are there at all. The only way to get rid of all advertising on our free hosted WordPress.com blogs is to purchase an annually renewable No-Ads upgrade.

    If you feel an ad is inappropriate please take a screenshot of it and send it to Staff by emailing support@wordpress.com or upload it into your Media Library and contact Staff and let them know it’s there for them to view.

    Just started getting ads today and they are very inappropriate. Sent it to support today, but after searching the forums this seems to be a huge problem.

    Please note that as you have contacted Staff and provided a screenshot it’s best to simply wait for a reply. Staff deal with the support tickets that have the earliest date and time stamps first. If you send in another ticket or email that moves the date forward and getting a response will take longer.

    Haven’t sent a second email, just wanted to point out that this seems like a pretty common problem. Perhaps if there was a button next to the ad to flag as inappropriate it would help.

    Thanks for the speedy reply.

    Hi again,
    Bandwidth costs $ and as there are over 25 million of us advertsising is required. That’s why I chose to purchase a No-Ads upgrade and eliminate all ads from my blog.

    It’s an unbelievably common thing. We get several posts a day with this same exact title.

    No problem hosting ads, but a selection to choose the “rating” of ads placed on the site would be helpful.

    Trying to purchase that upgrade, but there are a lot of hoops to jump through for a school district and it moves very slow when there is no contact for WordPress except for a generic “support” address. All of our blogs have been set to private until we sort this out.

    @lisdpride
    None of us have ever been given the opportunity to select the ads that appear on our blogs. Staff is not required if you want to purchase of a No-Ads upgrade. It costs $29.97 per blog, per year and you can subscribe to this upgrade from the Store panel of your dashboard.
