Unwanted Email Notices

  I keep getting these emails, 20 – 30 per day, that have nothing to do with my site.

  Can you stop them?

  Hi,

  It looks like someone has entered your email on their site to receive those notifications.

  Is there a URL for that site on the emails you’re receiving so I can have a look?

  Hello there,

  It looks like a bot could be targeting site – which isn’t unheard of it.

  Is robertiulo.com the site you run/manage?

  Thanks for that! We are unable to help because we don’t host your site directly on our WordPress.com managed hosting. Instead, your site is hosted with a different provider on a separate host, and we’re unable to access your site’s backend to take a closer look. But I can get you pointed in the right direction.

  Can you look and see if those users are under Users -> All Users in your dashboard? If so, those users are designated as the Subscriber role within your WordPress site. They’ve been added because you have the “anyone can register” option checked in your Settings -> General for “Membership” – on your WordPress login screen, the link to register can be seen here:

  

  It’s a common form of spam in the WordPress software where bots find login pages with open registration forms and sign up en masse. The vast majority of WordPress sites don’t need open registration, so to stop this just turn off that setting. You can also delete any of those spam user accounts from the Users -> All Users page.
