unwanted emails from web development companies
-
Hello,
I set up a new WordPress site on the weekend, and I’ve since had thirty emails from companies offering web development and SEO, etc. My account settings say that my email address is not made public and I have not published my email address on my website. I’m wondering how these companies have found my email address, and I wish to stop getting so many spam messages. If WordPress is selling contact information to third parties, this could greatly diminish the company’s reputation and make me consider using another website service. Please help me rectify this problem as fast as possible.
Thank you,

Hello,
An email address published on a website is easy for a spammer to harvest. For example, the contact page on the site linked in your post has a gmail.com email listed. Using a contact form is a great way to hide your email address, yet still allow others to contact you. Here’s how to add the form: https://en.support.wordpress.com/forms/contact-form/
