Unwanted follows

  • Unknown's avatar

I’ve been followed daily by a blogger, who insists that he isn’t following me. I delete him daily. I’ve been in contact with him, and he insists that his follows of my blog by him are not his doing, and told me that it’s WordPress’ issue. Here are two screenshots:

First is the follow by him:

    Next, his response:

    His blog:
    [redacted by staff]

Any help in resolving this issue is appreciated.

  • @forfriendswithoutborders do you know this person or is it a random blogger?

If you’ll leave him on next time we’ll take a look.

I don’t know him. I’ve just deleted him again. I’ll leave him as follower next time, but you can view his blog now. In my opinion, he is trolling bloggers. I don’t know how it’s possible that he repeatedly follows my blog, yet claims it’s a WordPress issue.

Ok, he just followed me again, and I have not deleted him yet. Please have a look and see if his claim is true that it’s a WordPress issue. I suspect it’s not.

  • Hi there,

Our logs show they followed your site about 12 hours ago. This is not a WordPress issue.

There is no way to block a specific person from following a specific WordPress.com site, so my advice is to just ignore them going forward. If they are a spam follower, they’re doing it just to get attention and to get people to visit their site. If you don’t give them that attention and traffic, they won’t get what they want from this.
