Unwanted indents
-
My movie blog uses quite a lot of images, and the Black Letterhead theme. All pictures seem to be indented by one space on the left, but what’s actually happening is that a little bit of the right-hand edge of the picture is getting cut off. If the images have borders, it gets cut off and looks awkward. Does anyone know of a way to stop this from happening?
Hope someone can help…

That happens because the theme automatically creates margins around the images while the uploader doesn’t take that into account. You should insert images at a maximum width of 434px, not 450.

The CSS for images has a 7px margin on all sides which is what is causing the issue.
Open your posts with images, click on the image to highlight it, click the edit image button at the top left of the image, click on the “advanced settings” tab and in the “style” field, put the following
margin: 0pt;
and click “update.” You will have to add that each time you insert an image, or you will have to reduce your image width before insertion by 14px.Note that if you are using a reduced sized image (with text wrapping around the image, do not remove the “margin” as it will put the text right up against the side of the image and it will look bad.

Thankyou so much, both of you, for the swift advice – it certainly works to reduce the size of the images, though I’d rather not do it for every image each time. A friend bought be some CSS credit, and I haven’t had the stomach to go and make changes to it yet. Need to work up some courage over the summer, but I’ll try and adjust the margins for images first.
