Unwanted Link
-
Hiya! Every time I update or publish a new post or page, this link is automatically added to the bottom of the text:
http://gooogle-analytics.com/show_ads.html
I don’t want it there. I don’t know how or why it appears. If I delete it and hit “Update,” it just comes back. What is going on and how can I fix it?
Many thanks,
ZachThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

This is the result of clicking your username:
ecliptoid.wordpress.com is no longer available.
The authors have deleted this blog. Please provide an active URL starting with http:// to the blog you see this on.

I see that link at the bottom of the “Latest” post on your blog. Edit that post and go into the HTML editor and delete the code for that link. Then click “update” and report to us what the result is.
If you have been copying and pasting text from elsewhere without using either icon 5 or icon 6 in Row 2 of the visual editor, please see here so you know how to do this correctly in the future. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#pasting-text
Also go to Settings > Writing and select “ ___ WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” and then scroll down and click “Save Changes.”

timethief: removing the code has worked on the “Latest” page, I’ll keep doing it to the several other posts that are effected. I’ll adjust the settings and publish a dummy post to see if it works.
thesacredpath: In the editor.
I’ll reply again in a minute with results.
Thank you!

timethief: I’ve adjusted the settings as you suggested. Unfortunately, upon publication of my dummy post, the dreaded link still appeared at the bottom. At least now I know how to get rid of it, and thank you for that, but is there any other safeguard against unwanted code?
Thank you!

The only copying and pasting I do is when I copy one of my own posts. I do this so I don’t have to retype the navigation links underneath the comics.

You’re welcome and I certainly will be bookmarking this thread because I want to know the answer to where that code is coming from, given the fact we are told we cannot use blogger initiated Google Analytics on our free hosted blogs here at WordPress.com.
-
That’s definitely the first time I’ve heard of this, and we don’t allow Analytics code on blogs here, so that’s rather fishy.
I’d almost hazard to guess that your browser is adding this. Would you mind trying Chrome or Firefox (whichever one you aren’t using)?

macmanx: I think you may be right. I installed Chrome and published another dummy post. No unwanted link. How can Firefox add things to my posts?
Thanks,

There’s probably an add-on inserting it. Try disabling all of your add-ons to see if that makes a difference.

Maybe try clearing your cache and cookies on Firefox?
