Unwanted purchase/will not let me “email experts”
-
Hello, I was charged for a site I was in charge of for a church, but they no longer need the site and I did not realize my current card was attached so it came out and I need a refund. I went to message them because I am not able to live chat since I don’t pay that fee, but it won’t even let me email them. The button is grayed out. Can someone help?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Only the owner of that site is able to cancel the paid plan and get a refund. I tagged this thread to get attention from Staff but due to New Year this can take a few days.
-
Yes, I am the owner. I paid to start their website and paid the monthly payments. Them not wanting it is new news, and I was thinking it was no problem because I thought I had detached any active cards so this wouldn’t happen. I was wrong!

Hi there!
It appears the account you’re logged into owns the subscription that was automatically renewed. That means you should be able to cancel the subscription and get a refund. Could you try clicking here and here and canceling the subscription at the bottom of the page? Here’s more information about canceling subscriptions:
WordPress.com is happy to issue refunds for purchases within our refund timeframes. You can cancel most purchases directly from Upgrades → Purchases in your WordPress.com dashboard. How to Get a Refund To refund a purchase: Click on your Profile icon at the top of your WordPress.com dashboard: On the left side, select the Purchases menu option: Select the purchase youPlease note that if the domain is canceled, it may not be available for registration again. So, we advise ensuring that you or the church will never need the domain in the future.
Feel free to let us know if you have more questions.

Thank you for helping. I think I am getting a refund for the domain (the $48) but when I canceled the yearly renewal which as $30 that had gone through, there is no option to get refunded for that, though it says within two weeks (which it is currently).
Any way to figure this out?

@megweyerbacher here’s the domain refund policy:
https://wordpress.com/support/refunds/#domainsWe can’t refund a domain that renewed six days ago, but you can keep the domain and either redirect it to your site here, or use it with another service provider of your choice. What would you like to do?
-
Oh and to clarify, you were refunded for the plan but not the domain. You can see more details in the billing history here:
-
Okay, yeah I tried to contact within 24 hours, but I was told the holidays would be an issue. No, I can’t use it to redirect. That would mean when someone typed up the church website it would redirect them to mine, and I definitely do not want that. Is that what you meant, just to clarify in case I misunderstood?

You should be able to cancel regardless of support closures.

With the domain, if we hurry, you can do whatever you want with it (connect it to hosting, connect it to some other site, etc.)
Do you want us to restore it so you’ll have that option?
-
Yes, if it will not be linked at all or have anything to do with the church domain I am down for it! I wanted to start with my blog warmlymeg.wordpress.com and make it warmlymeg.com – if not too late.

Hi there,
The domain theassignment.church is linked to the Church’s site (theassignmentchurch.wordpress.com) and not your personal site (megweyerbacher.wordpress.com). So you don’t need to adjust anything.
Let me know if you have any other questions, and I’ll be happy to help.

I think my last question would be, since you said that, does this mean I can go into upgrades (or where ever it is located) and “apply” that domain purchase as a credit so I can use it with my blog (stated above)? I ask because I no longer use megweyerbacher.com – just trying to clarify before wrapping this thread up, thanks!
-
Unfortunately, it’s not possible to utilize a domain as payment for another purchase.
If you no longer wish to manage the Church’s domain, a nice idea is to transfer it over to the Church itself so they can use it however they want. You can easily do that by following these instructions: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/transfer-a-domain-to-another-wordpress-com-account/

Okay, thanks for clarifying. They do not want it, so I will consider it all good then. Appreciate the help!
