Unwanted Renewal of Domain Name

  • Unknown's avatar

I did receive the emails notifying me that my domain name was due for renewal. I followed the instructions provided, signed into the account and ensured that NO credit card information was on file as I DID NOT want this domain renewed. Yet apparently WordPress hid a copy of my credit card somewhere else, because the site was renewed anyway and my card charged. PLEASE provide assistance as I DO NOT want this domain renewed.

What was the domain name that got renewed?

Is “lemegrew” the username associated with it?

I’ve added “modlook” to the sidebar tags on this thread to bring it to WordPress.com staff attention. They’ll need the answers to those 2 questions in order to help you.

  • Hi there,

I would be happy to assist you in cancelling and refunding your purchase. However, the upgrade that was purchased is not associated with the account you contacted us from. To confirm ownership, post in this thread under the username/account that purchased the upgrade. Then, I can look into refunding the subscription purchase.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks!

Darnelldibbles, I do not know why it is saying I am contacting you from and about “perspectivestory.wordpress.com” as the domain I have registered. The domain that was re-registered is perspectivestories.wordpress.com. Receipt # 19379125. I do not know how this got changed, and unfortunately how to change it back. How can I figure this out and continue?

  • Hi there,

I checked perspectivestories.wordpress.com and it is indeed under a different account than the one you are contacting us from. You may have inadvertently created a second account. Do you remember creating a second account other than the one you are contacting us from?

I don’t remember creating perspectivestory. I remember playing around with things before I bought perspectivestories with something like “trysomethingnewnow”, but I didn’t buy that. I did this all a year ago, and never used the site, so unfortunately I don’t know much about it.

  • Do you happen to still have the receipt from your upgrade purchase?

I would be more than happy to assist you in regaining access to your account. If you could please fill out our account recovery form, we can see what we can do to get you back into your account.

Please visit our support page for more information on recovering your account.

    Thanks!

    The receipt # is 19379125
I went to the “account recovery form” you sent, entered my information, and it prompted me to create a new password, which I have done. The dashboard sates my domain is “perspectivestory” and nowhere can I find a domain for “perspectivestories” which is the domain name on the receipt. I have access to the account, but am still confused and unsure about what to do now. Thank you for your help.

  • Hi there,

You are currently logged into your lemegrew account. Are you able to log into your laurenmegrew account? That is where the upgrade perspectivestories.com is under.

    Let me know. Thanks!

Yes, I was able to click on that link, and I have cancelled the subscription from renewing next year, but my issue was that I didn’t want it renewed in the first place. I would like to receive a refund for this domain for this July 2016 through July 2017.

  • Hey there,

Not a problem! I have canceled your subscription for the domain and refunded the charges back to you. It can take between 7-10 business days for the refund to reflect on your bank statement.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Take care,
