Unwanted Reply forms on secondary pages
-
The front page is the blog page. The secondary pages are for club information. They both have a reply form at the bottom, which I cannot remove. Please advise. This is a meeting announcement site, not a site where we wish to receive email other than RSVP. Thank you!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

We can over-ride the default settings for comments which are found here > Settings > Discussion on any post or page. Edit the page and in the Discussion module found under the editor box you will find this:
Discussion
__Allow comments.
__Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this page.
Disable these and then click “Update”. -
Right. But my pages don’t even have that option You can see a screenshot here:
http://jacksononthemoon.com/no-comments.jpgI have done lots of wordpress.org sites, this is my first wordpress.com site. I am wondering if I have inadvertently turned something off???

Please go to the top right hand corner of your Admin page and click “screen options”. Make sure you include “comments”. Illustrated instructions here. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options/
As it would be extremely unusual not to include a means for redersfor contacting you at all, please see here “contact form”. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/
Learn wordpress.com tutorial here. > http://learn.wordpress.com/

I went to one of the pages and selected screen options and I deselected everything.
You can see that here:

I updated and the form is still there. Why would anyone want a reply form on regular pages? Is there somewhere else to turn this off?
If I want a contact page, I will put one in, but this is supposed to be a website that the secretary who is not a blogger, can easily learn and send out meeting notifications. We do not want comments on every page.
I really appreciate your help, by the way.

Thanks for sending the learning link, but I have built probably 40 sites using wordpress on self hosted sites. I have never had a reply form appear at the bottom of a regular page ever, which is why I am so puzzled.

Oh dear! I did not mean that you needed to “disable”. I meant “enable”comments in screen options.
All wordpress blogs are set up to display comment boxes by default on all pages and all posts. This is the same on wordpress.com and wordpress.org installs too. The screenshot does not show the Discussion module under the Editor box. That’s where the disabling must take place.
Set up the screen options please and try again.
- I’m thinking that as you can’ see the Discussion Module you could have a browser issue so try changing your browser settings, refreshing the page, or clearing the browser cache and cookies – instructions for specific browsers.
- Note that when you make adjustments to your browser settings — changing privacy settings, deleting cookies or increasing security — you will need to close your window and restart the browser before those new settings become effective.
- You could try upgrading your browser.
- You could try using another browser.
