Unwanted spam comments

Please, WordPress, could you reduce the spam comments that are getting through the Akismet filter. There are between 300 and 400 spam comments per day on my blog Varldsinbordeskriget.

Akismet is good – however when a blog has a lot of spam comments showing up it is usually because the blogger has approved some vile spam in the past, nothing attracts spammers like spam already on a blog. I have looked at your blog and all the comments I saw were spam. you need to mark them as Spam – don’t delete – mark as spam.

Also set your comments to require moderation to stop spam getting posted

Dashboard >> Settings >> Discussion >> Require comments to be moderated

when you approve spam comments you make life harder for everyone since Akismet looks at what you approved and approves it for me, then I need to deal with extra spam

If you keep on approving spam comments at some point the Terms of service group will have a chat with you about the content of your blog

Thank you for your reply. I still receive around 100 spam comments per day although I have followed advise and ticked on “Users must be registered and logged in to comment”. It hasn’t worked so far.

@gautic01 Unfortunately, as auxclass has said, it does appear that you have approved comments that are spam, such as in this post: http://varldsinbordeskriget.wordpress.com/2009/12/23/westward-march-of-civilization/#comments

That will draw even more spammers to your site.

First of all, please read these resources to educate yourself to recognize spam comments:

Afterwards, please go back through your approved comments and mark the posted spam comments as spam to remove them.
