Hi there,
I’m sorry about this. Our contact forms run all responses through our Akismet anti-spam program. It should catch as much spam as possible; however, there will be some that slip through. If you could make sure to mark these as “spam,” it will help us improve our filters and catch more spam going forward.
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

Now i am getting even more (see below). I want to implement Captcha but looks like i do not have plugin capability as I am not org subscriber.
How can i add captcha to the below?
[contact-form] [contact-field label="Name" type="text" /] [contact-field label="Email" type="text" /] [contact-field label="Date of Event" type="text" /] [contact-field label="Event Type (click to see options)" type="select" options="Chinese Customary,Church Matrimony,Event Coverage,Others" /] [contact-field label="Comment" type="textarea" /] [/contact-form]

Hi there,
I’m so sorry about this, but unfortunately you would have to move to WordPress.org to add that plugin. Our developers are working on Contact Form spam as we are aware of this issue. Meanwhile, they recommend adding a required email address as that will solve a lot of these issues. You can find more information about that here. Please continue to mark these messages as Spam. I apologize for the inconvenience.
However, if you feel that moving to WordPress.org would be better this guide will step you through the process of moving your site to a WordPress.org instance:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org
As we only support sites hosted here at WordPress.com, all issues with the new site – including the importing of the file – must be taken to the WordPress.org support community:
If you’d like assistance moving your WordPress.com site to WordPress.org, we have a service called Guided Transfer that does all the work for you. Check it out to see if its right for you:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/guided-transfer/
Please let me know if you have any questions!

today i received about 20+ spams, a record so far.
Although I am not a .org customer. I still pay about $80/year for videopress and extra storage space. If this spamming cannot be stopped, i will switch totally to Facebook. I am really put off by all these spammings.

Hi there,
I have marked those as spam. Marking all the offensive messages as spam if they get through will help our team in blocking and marking these messages as spam in the future.
Also, on your contact page – http://idoproduction.wordpress.com/ – Please set the email address field as being required. This will stop the vast majority of these spam from ever getting through. Here’s more information on editing an existing contact form:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/#edit-an-existing-contact-form
I’m so sorry you’re getting a lot of these, but these suggestions will help us with the problem and help keep your email box a little more empty from spam.
Thank you!

OK thanks! Hopefully that will help reduce the spam dramatically. Let me know how it goes!

I am still receiving despite setting the mandotary field for email. you can check it from your end.
BTW, I have setup contact list for maybe close to 2 years but only started receiving spamming these 2 to 3 months. There must be some changes at your end if not this will not happen.

Hi there,
I have contacted our team about this matter. We are looking into it, and I will get back to you as soon as possible!
Thank you for your patience! :)

Hi there!
I found that there was an issue with how the required Email/Name section of the Contact Form was set up. I have fixed it and that should help with the spam.
For future reference: The contact form has fields labelled Email and Name, but they’re both type=text.
If those fields are changed to type=email and type=name respectively, that should do it. You can also change this with the form builder by clicking edit on each field. There’s a dropdown for field type.
I have updated this for you, so it should work now! Fingers crossed!
However, if you are still getting a lot of spam, let me know!
Thank you!

Well, I checked and still see label=’Name’ type=’text’ & label=’Email’ type=’text’ so not sure what have you changed?
Spam still coming in this morning. Still wondering why spamming only happens now as I have been using the contact list for last 24 months with 0 spamming
[contact-form][contact-field label='Name' type='text' required='1'/][contact-field label='Email' type='text' required='1'/][contact-field label='Date of Event' type='text' required='1'/][contact-field label='Event Type (click to see options)' type='select' options='Chinese Customary,Church Matrimony,Event Coverage,Others'/][contact-field label='Comment' type='textarea'/][/contact-form]

While I appreciate what you have done but the spamming did not stop. I got 7 to 8 spamming during the weekends. Guess there is no way to stop these fellows.
-
HI there,
I made another change to Contact form of the Contact and Rates page.
I’ve marked the ones coming in as spam.
Let’s see if this helps!
-
so far I have received just 1 spam after your last change. Looks like things is improving. will keep monitoring. thks
-
Hi there,
Sounds great! :) Spam is definitely being worked on so it should be getting better!
Cheers!
-
i would like to take back my previous comment on reduction of spamming. If you check, the spamming did not stop but instead they are growing in numbers and in term of the message content.
Sigh….Wordpress have yet to answer me why the spaming only happened recently
-
Hi there,
I’m not quite sure why it’s happening, but I have set restrictions on certain IP addresses and terms so that you will not receive these messages.
Let me know how this works out.
-
as you can see, the spams came back again and even much more than before despite doing all the measures. I am really disappointed
