  I have just seen the video on how to open a free wordpress.com website on the WordPress help page. It is a video created by WordPress themselves, but the keys on the left of the screen are different in their video than what I have in my wordpress account!! This is confusing. Where can I get an up to date tutorial?

  Hi @giftsandcards, could you send us the link you’ve been using so I know what to compare it to?

  The actual signup process does change a bit from time to time, but generally if you start here:
  https://wordpress.com/free

  … and then choose a Business site, you can continue on to create a free wordpress.com address.

  And from there you can let us know what you’re trying to do and we can point you in the right direction.

  Noting too, you might also be thinking of WordPress.org. That is the community about the free WordPress software, which you can use with a different hosting service. Most hosting services will give you installers, and some provide basic maintenance. Otherwise you would provide your own security and maintenance, and would look the community and online resources for any support you need. Or you can hire a company to help with that.
