Upcoming Events widget

I am using a public Apple iCloud calendar in the upcoming events widget. Everything was working perfectly, times were populating correctly, displayed correctly, etc. Then, without warning or change of ANY kind to settings in either iCloud or WordPress blog, the times began to display morning event times, completely NOT what the event is set to in iCloud. I have adjusted the time zone settings for the blog to Chicago to reflect Central time zone, but so far this has not resolved the issue. I have gone into each event to “re-enter” times and validate what is in iCloud. I have checked calendar settings in iCloud as well. Nothing as worked to resolve my issue. Did WordPress make some kind of change to functionality that would effect this widget or something?

Hi there – I’m sorry, there’s an open bug report for this issue, but there’s no solution as yet. I will keep you updated as soon as I have more information.

The upcoming events widget has been fixed so that recurring events now display in the correct timezone. Sorry for the trouble!

I really wish there was a way to attach pictures because this is not fixed. I’m not sure how supporting of clients can be effective without picture submission of errors/bugs… So anyway, I put in the widget again and the same issue. Again, I have validated that the iCal is working fine, with dates/times populating correctly. I have screen shots of the widget, the timezone setting, and the display on the page itself.
We have an event coming up this weekend and again, we cannot rely on our website to communicate this accurately through our public calendar. Disappointing to say the least, especially when for a month or better the calendar worked perfectly. So, something had to have been changed on the back end coding. Please advise if/when this could be fixed. Thank you in advance! I do truly appreciate your time.

@nwatailwaggers, thanks for the note! I researched a bit more and found out that the fix from earlier worked for .ics files generated by Google Calendar. We’re looking at updating again to account for other ways calendar files save the raw calendar data.

We’ve applied a new update to fix recurring events that weren’t fixed by the previous update.
I checked http://nwatailwaggers.org/ just now, and I see there are no upcoming events at the moment. If you do add a recurring event again in the future, please reply here and let me know if it’s still not fixed for you.

You could use a free sharing service like http://snag.gy for that if you needed to in the future.
