Upcoming Events widget lists wrong times
-
Hi there, it’s me again. I thought my issue was resolved but apparently it has just evolved…
random events are missing from my upcoming events sidebar…
here is my blog: http://skateamherstburg.ca/
my ical (google calendar) link: http://www.google.com/calendar/ical/webchair%40skateamherstburg.ca/public/basic.icsAs you can see on my calendar there is an event on the 11th however my widget shows the 10th and then skips to the 18th.
Thanks in advance for you help.

Hi there,
I do see an event on the 11th on your blog:
January 7, 2013
Monday Canskate Winter Sessions Begin.
January 10, 2013
Thursday Canskate Winter Sessions Begin.
January 11, 2013

January 18, 2013
Ice Schedule Change! – See Ice Schedule for DetailsIt’s possible you were caught in a lag where the event hadn’t yet shown up. Let me know if you don’t see the correct events still!

I am sorry. I confused matters… Our club members rely on our website and I couldn’t allow the incorrect information on the site even while waiting for a support reply. I deleted all events on the google calendar and then reentered them. When I did that the widget displayed correctly. Prior to that there was an event missing and resaving the event on the calendar and or refreshing the blog did not resolve the ssue. I am certain that there is something not quite right with the widget as others have pointed out there are intermittent errors that do not seem to have a rhyme or reason. I only aplologize that I confused matters when asking for help.

There is a several hour lag when posting new items on occasion; was your item missing for longer than that?
I appreciate your clarification! I’ll let our internal team know so that they can double check the way that information comes in from Google.
-
Yes, the information was posted to the google calendar in mid December for the following months activity. The items that were showing in the widget appeared to be okay during that time. As days passed and items fell off and were repopulated to the widget that is when it was noticed that the item was missing. There was definitely enough of a time lag.

I notice this issue is marked as [resolved]. Was a fix deployed?
I still have a calendar event for 23-Jan-13 listed after event dates in Feb, Mar, Apr-13. (That of course, is when the events are listed at all).
Regards

As far as I know it’s not resolved, but I think that the first time this thread was opened, a fix was deployed that did work and the thread was marked resolved then. In the interim, however, Google may have tweaked some code and we didn’t keep up – making it unresolved (or, technically, a new issue, but we’re using the same thread). I have marked it “unresolved” again – we are still working on it!
-
Ok, this SHOULD be fixed now! Give it a little bit to take effect, but you should see those events fall into correct order now.
Cheers!
-
Ok, I cleared all cache / history etc. then tested on IE, Firefox and Chrome.
My event dates (with all events listed) are now perfectly in order! Thank you so much.
Caveat: My events are 1-per-day, so I have not tested any time-based events.
-
The way the code was updated this shouldn’t matter – but please do let me know if you run into another error.
I’m so happy this has resolved for you!

After a little testing, it looks like the widget will display this way because of how you have your date format set up: l, F j, Y, G:i
You can find this setting in Dashboard > Settings > General:
https://azsoftmatter.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-general.phpI’m not sure we could format the widget in a way to request it not to show what you’ve instructed your site to show, if that makes sense? You should find that if you modify the date format to not show the hour/minutes, you’ll not see them on your widget; only the duration of the event (13:00 – 14:00, in the case of the first one).
I hope that’s helpful!

Hi,
Is there a way to change the widget so that the event title is bold and at the top instead of the location?
Thanks -
The problem is the “time” is not match in google calender.
At the right side of our page:
UPCOMING EVENTS/近期活動

Regular Meeting #001
March 15, 2013 at 3:00 AM – 5:00 AM

I am having the same problem that other have previously mentioned. The ical feed in the Upcoming Events widget is showing events 4 hours earlier than on my google calendar. I have set the Google calendar to GMT + 0. I have deleted the widget, cleared the history, cache and cookies in my browser (Chrome), and re-enabled the widget. Has there been any resolution?
Site is: http://miltonsailing.wordpress.com/
thank you for your help with this! -
janeremsen,
When I had this issue previously I had to set my wordpress timezone to UTC and then my google calendar to GMT+0 and I think it took a little bit for everything to sync up before the times matched. Not sure if this information helps you at all. I hope it does.
