Upcoming events widget shows incorrect times

  • Unknown's avatar

The calendar we are using is: webcal://p97-calendars.icloud.com/published/2/rJ2PZBL8i6tisNrzQ5qTxQRU2pOggWCaS8a_OaDl0YLcipVj_PzfhFpTQR29zS7Lzz0ZYs9MXKowxuvatf1eCwInkjEQDwauu-OpcmZTdCY

We list our events as weekly events on Thursdays from 7-10pm and on Sundays from 1-5:30pm. However, as you can see on the website, the events start to use different times (for example on May 15 it says we are meeting at 2am).

    Hey there!

Could you send me a screenshot of the calendar, as I don’t have web access to it? Or, if it’s possible for me to see it online (rather than as a download), please send that link!

You can simply upload the screenshot to your Media Library, like any other image, and I’ll be able to access it from there.

The page at the following link has some helpful tips for taking screenshots:

    Take a Screenshot

Just let me know when there’s something I should look at.

Regarding your dates on the site — is this the first time the issue happened? Is it happening on all your events, or just the ones starting May 15.

Can you confirm that the time zone on your computer, on your calendar, and on your WordPress.com site all match?

Here is a link to the time settings of your WordPress.com site:

Let me know! Thanks so much.

It is an iCal calendar link. It seems to work with WordPress as the website is grabbing data from it.

This is not the first time this has happened; we have experienced this issue in the past as well (and I asked for help before too but we were not able to solve the issue). I don’t remember how it was resolved.

I uploaded the screenshot to my media library.

I verified that the timezones for my wordpress site and calendar match (LA and Pacific time).

    Thanks~!

    Hi there!

I’m reading past information from your other (similar) issues with your calendar widget.

Can you please delete the widget, remove the items from your iCal calendar, then re-add the two calendar items…and re-add the widget.

I’ve cleared your page’s cache to no avail. There is no cached data on your site that is interfering with the calendar. It appears, then, as if there is a conflict occurring because of the way your calendar parses and sends recurring event data…that’s a hunch, I’m not exactly certain yet. Once I hear back from you about how the deletion/re-addition worked, I’ll be able to troubleshoot further.

I suspect individually-created calendar events will appear without trouble, but that recurring events might need to be occasionally fixed in this manner.

Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much.

    Hello!

I deleted the widget, and the calendar events. Then I re-added the calendar events (as recurring events) and re-added the widget.

I am still seeing the schedule display weird times for the second repeating event (the first ones look fine).

    Thanks!

    Hey there,

Can you tell me what happens when you add the event as a one-time event? Does it display the correct time/date?

In the meantime, I’m doing some testing on my end.

I’ll keep an ear out for your response! Thank you.

    Hi,

I added the events as single events and it still displays the time incorrectly for the second occurrence of the events (just like before).

    Thanks

  • Unknown's avatar

    Ok, thanks much.

How did you create the second event? Did you copy/paste the first event? Or did you create it from scratch?

If you haven’t done both of the actions above, can you do so? Make sure the two individual, non-repeating events were created a) by copying pasting another single event, and b) by creating the single event by scratch.

I’m able to recreate the repeating event problem, but haven’t been able to “force” the error you’re seeing in single events.

Thanks again for your testing and patience.

I copy pasted the first event to create the second event.

I tried creating the second events (Thursday hours and Sunday hours) from scratch, but I still see that they are displaying the incorrect hours.

    Thanks.

    Excellent. Thank you.

We’ll take over the testing from here. All your help is much appreciated.

Our developers have been notified about your iCal issue and one of us will be in touch as soon as we have a solution for you!

    Hi again!

Our developers created a fix for the way your site is displaying your recurring iCal events.

Those recurring events are now working great on my test site…could you re-add the code to an iCalendar widget on your own site, and follow up with me to let me know how things are working?

    Many thanks :)
