Update button or publish button missing

  I created a new page but there is no Update or Publish button as there usually are so I don’t know how to save all the work I’ve done. I want to publish it.

  I created new pages several times thinking maybe this was a one-off situation but there are no Publish buttons on these pages either.

  I have created about a hundred pages and edited them many times in the past and I always saw an “Update” button but today the button is missing. What can I do?

  I solved it. I went to Screen Options and ticked two columns (instead of one column which it was). When I did this, a right hand side column showed up with “Publish” and “Update” buttons in it – although the Update button at the bottom of the page was still missing (this is the button I normally use to Update my pages). And so I was able to update my work.
