Update caused site to crash and cant access admin page

  • Unknown's avatar

We had a web designer (who is no longer in business) develop the site for us. There was an update (that no one at our company did) which installed a plugin called Freemius and now when trying to access the admin portal of our website, or our website, we are getting the following error:
Fatal error: Can’t use method return value in write context in /home/lpsot/public_html/wp-content/plugins/menu-image/freemius/includes/class-freemius.php on line 12736

The username and password has not changed however, when trying to login to WordPress I keep getting the error that the username is not valid. When I logged in using link below it would let me enter my admin username and password. Please assist or let me know why my username is not being found or how to access our admin site to roll back the update.

    Thanks.

  • Hi there!

I’m afraid that your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted elsewhere.

Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. You can read more about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com here:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

You can look for help at the community forums here: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

http://wordpress.org/support/ is also a great resource for sites using the open-source WordPress.org software.
