update page button missing
-
When I go to “edit page” and make changes, there is usually a button near the bottom of the page to update or publish the changes. This button isn’t appearing.
I am having to wait for it to autosave and then restore the auto saved version!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

What browser and browser version are you using?
Have you tried a different browser?
Have you logged out of wordpress, cleared your browser cache and cookies, restarted your browser and then tried again?
-
Thanks – I’ll try that. I see someone else posted an almost identical question shortly after I did! I recently allowed firefox to do some automatic updates. I wonder if that has affected things.

Nope, using IE there is still no button to update the page after clicking edit page and making changes. On the other hand, unlike the other person posting, I do have a “Publish” button if I try to create a new post.
-
This is typically at the top right of the text box on the edit post and edit page page.
By chance did you look in the area below the text area? Since those modules are moveable, perhaps it somehow ended up down below instead of to the right.

If I’m not mistaken, you can set IE8 to “compatibility mode” and that’s supposed to clear up this and similar problems.

They aren’t now. :-)
If their browser market share keeps dropping like it has been since Firefox hit the interwebs, they will be irrelevant within a year, two at the most.
I risk beginning a rant here.

Alright, I don’t have a publish button either and I’ve now tried
in Safari on a Mac and in IE. I don’t think this is a browser
or cookie problem. -

I just figured out a fix…if you expand the screen options tab
and then select 2 column option, the publish button will appear.
If you leave it selected on single column it appears to be
invisible. -
Thank you anotheraaron. This worked for me. I have now moved the publish section to below the text and returned to 1 column.

Omigod, thank you. The two column trick fixed it. I thought I was going crazy. I’d go to edit a page, and see no update button, and worse, the screen tells me the *instant* I get to the Page edit screen that there’s already a *newer* version that what just appeared. And I haven’t touched or done a thing, except click on “edit” for Page.
Anyway, selecting 2 column fixed it, and I’m hugely grateful. I can’t tell you how unbelievably frustrating this was. (FYI, I was using OmniWeb (pretending to be Safari) but until I got two column turned on, it was no update in Safari, iCab, Firefox, and Opera for the Mac, all the very latest versions.)
THANK YOU!!!!!!

The two column trick did not fix it for me, 1 or 2 columns my update button is still missing.
I can’t update my posts! HELP!
