Update page FAILS for many hour now

Update page FAILS for many hour now.

It keeps giving this response after about 1 minute:

    Goshdarnit!

Something has gone wrong with our servers. It’s probably Matt’s fault.

We’ve just been notified of the problem.

Hopefully this should be fixed ASAP, so kindly reload in a minute and things should be back to normal.

*This message shows up even though I reduced the page size by about 5,000 words.
It FAILED to update even ONCE, in about 50 tries over 5 hours.
    No problems before this.

    Hey there!

Have you tried any of these procedures?
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/

Also are you using http:// or https:// see
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

Let me know if that does the trick.

  • Unknown's avatar

nope. Tried all. The message returned to me by WP says
“Something has gone wrong with our servers”
    Is that not the problem?

  • Unknown's avatar

How do I contact a real paid wp tech support staff person?
WP says their server is the problem. So how do I email them?
(Instead of wasting hours of my time, getting circular responses
from unhelpful wp help pages. Oh, and it is plain deceitful when wp
shows pictures of supposed ready to help techs’ faces, but when you click, you end up on the same circular pages again. Deceitful, Not helpful.)

I know you’re feeling frustrated! I’ve been there.

One more thing to try out.

    Have you already done this?
    1. Log out, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your browser and then try again.

If that doesn’t work, try a different browser to see if it is related to just that particular browser.

Also, what browser and browser version are you experiencing this problem in?

I tried as you suggested and the same message from WP shows up:

    “Goshdarnit!
Something has gone wrong with our servers. It’s probably Matt’s fault.
We’ve just been notified of the problem.
Hopefully this should be fixed ASAP, so kindly reload in a minute and things should be back to normal.”

I did all you asked but nothing removes this weird server message.
FF35.0 Everything on my side works, and is up to date.
A different wp I run works fine and does not have this issue.

Then, I refreshed my website page (on another tab) and see that changes did go through. So I went back to the Edit page and hit “Update” again, and it goes to that same weird server message.

Obviously, there is a server issue here, as the message says.

    So again I kindly ask,
“How do I contact a real paid wp tech support staff person?”

I’m tagging this for a staff member for you.
    Thanks for trying those suggestions.

@theothershare – Thanks so much for walking through all those troubleshooting steps! That’s super helpful. :)

@barkmanpark – Can you give me a link to the post you’re trying to view or edit when you see this error?

    Still the same problem happening.

Updating any page/post does this. Returns message:

    Goshdarnit!
Something has gone wrong with our servers. It’s probably Matt’s fault.
We’ve just been notified of the problem.
Hopefully this should be fixed ASAP, so kindly reload in a minute and things should be back to normal.

    Hmmm.
It does the update, eventually. but something is obviously wrong.
Again, all is fine on my computer side.
Thanks for staff working on this.

Just rechecked page updating, and they now work. Post does not.

Still the same problem with the post. 1-2 minutes, and then weird message shows up. But edit change is made.

Retried again, 3:20 PM, Feb 4, 2015. cst. Same problem.

It looks like you’ve currently got the editor open for that post. Can I take over so I can see if I get the error as well?

I believe you may be having this issue because of the number of tags on your post. Tags are not meant to cover every possible topic related to your post.

If you want your posts to appear in reader tags, you need to limit the number of tags your using to 15.

Once you reduce the number of tags on your post to under 20, let me know if you still see this error.

  • Unknown's avatar

lol. Just because you read in your book to limit tags so as to not use more resources, does not make it the cause of your server errors.
I have already wasted DAYS of MY TIME on USELESS experiments
of try this, do that, and nothing changes YOUR server error.

How about YOU find out what the problem is with YOUR SERVER?

And quit giving me useless tasks to do that only WASTE MY TIME!

I’m happy to help you out with this, but I do need you to actually participate in some troubleshooting with me. Having too much content on a single page or post can cause loading issues. Those issues can happen anywhere along the path from our server to your browser.

Unless you can confirm that you get this error message on pages that do not have as much content or as many tags as that post you linked to, I do need you to reduce the number of tags on that post in order to see if that’s what’s causing this error message.

  • Unknown's avatar

I see my last response is missing. lol. Anyway, I see you fixed the server error. My thanks to whomever did that.
See? All my being made to run around for many hours, days, wasting my precious time, was for nothing. The end fix had to be done on your side. I have edited for two days and things are running smoothly. Thank you.

PS. The number of Tags had Nothing to do with this.
The number of Tags has actually increased and are NP.
As everyone can see, NONE of the “do this/do that” worked.
I hope some better study and training is done by Staff/other.
I am afraid to “Go Premium” because of this simple issue.
Maybe watching and waiting for a while is best.
My thanks again for someone there fixing the “Server Error”.
