Update PDF file on website

  I have a PDF on the website (https://speakingofresearch.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/background-briefing-on-animal-research-in-canada-2014.pdf) which I know have updated with the most recent information.

  How can I reupload the new version of th PDF to the old URL?

  First delete the old one and then upload the new one.

  Even deleting the old file first, it seems to want to create a new file with “-1” at the end.

  This is already answered here

  if you upload a file, delete it, then upload another file with the same filename and filetype the same month, the filename gets an extra number to distinguish the new file from the old; if you upload it after the month has passed, the date in the URL will be different.

  what I do – I never send a link to the file directly – I send a link to the Post or Page – when I update a file I change the name – usually with a letter (sometimes other methods) – I use that as a version control method – then people can tell if they have the latest version – makes updating things much much simpler
