Update Username and Password

    I have a website hosted on WordPress(www.afapalmspringschapter134.com). For at least four months now, I have not been able to access the website to conduct my daily administration. I have tried unsuccessfully to correct this problem using the forums, but the forums are closed. Unfortunately, I cannot locate the receipt s from WordPress to provide the data needed for a new usere ID and a new password. In order to correct this problem, we need to upgrade to the business level websitde that WordPress offers where I can actually talk to someone about the WordPress administration problems we have experienced. Otherwise, our website is dead in the water until we again have access to our website. Thank you –

    Hi – it looks like your afapalmspringschapter134 site is a WordPress.org site, hosted on GoDaddy. Or are you talking about your Days of Steam website?

    Just to clarify, you are trying to log in at http://www.afapalmspringschapter134.com/wp-admin/ and you have no record of the username or password you should use to get in?

    Do not purchase WordPress.com upgrades for your WordPress.org blog. You will not be able to use them. Contact your web host.

    Hi, Susan,

    Thank you for the response and the advice. I have had to rule out Godaddy as they are nothat I want. My problem is that attempts to regain entry to my afapalmsprings website,my user name has been changed and I have no record of it and thus my password changes don’t work either. WordPress says in it’s response that I must provide two pieces of information which I don’t have a record of at this point. What is my next step?

    I’m a little confused. Your website, afapalnspringschapter134 is a WordPress.org website. This forum is a WordPress.com support forum and WordPress.com staff won’t have any record of your username or password, nor will they be able to reset it for you for that site. That’s why a request for some verification information from WordPress is strange.

    There are techniques for finding out your username in WordPress.org and your best bet is to post your question over in their forum or search that forum for “lost username” to see the tactics and suggestions that are offered. Here’s the link:

    I guess now that I must have missed something in oneof wordpress’ change. My website is <www.afapalmspringschapter134.com> At leat thats what I started with. I don’t believe I am under a .org for that website.

    I certainly could be wrong, but it does look like your site is hosted on GoDaddy:

    In any event, if you’ve contacted WordPress.com, they should be able to sort it out or point you in the right direction.

    That site was registered through WordPress.COM but there is no domain mapping upgrade for afapalmspringschapter134.com here.

    Hi there,

    The folks here are all correct: your site (www.afapalmspringschapter134.com) is not hosted here at WordPress.com.

    However, if you’re having trouble logging on, you can generally do a password reset for a self-hosted on GoDaddy at a link like this:

    http://afapalmspringschapter134.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
