UPDATE very old wordpress!

  I tried to find my post from yesterday and cannot find though search, scanning all of the entries…etc. This blog is really old and I cannot update it to get plugins…don’t want to delete site and lose my name etc…I am not techie at all…but usually can surf about and figure it out on my own…If I knew that it would’ve been this hard to update it, I would’ve just trashed the old site and started over completely.

  What are my options? Just need it updated or to find out some way to keep my wordpress.com name and just start over without screwing everything up.
