The screen shot you have above, is the current/old bookmarklet. There has been an update to it. The new one is completely different. It is missing the tool to grab the image from the source website, using the URL.

Hi ismailimail,
The updated Press This has a couple options for inserting images. When it detects images on the source website, it suggests them above the editor and you can click on an image there to add it to the post. (This inserts the image from its source URL.) Alternately, you can click the Add Media icon in the bottom left to add media as you would in a normal post (including the option to insert via URL).
Here’s a quick screenshot of those two options: https://cloudup.com/cOKmRr3tjAo
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

I will give this a try. It seems the “insert via URL” is now several clicks efforts, where as it used to be just one click.
I also wish you had kept the Save Draft button in visible view.

So far I have stumbled upon several occasions where the paragraphs are not being maintained by this new bookmarklet. The text/sentences are coming up all joined together.
I use bookmarklet daily. It seems WP has developed this new version without extensive testing by those who use it daily. This is just unfortunate. I wanted you to update the bookmarklet for long time, but not at the expense of taking away ease of use. Granted that is now much faster, but I am not happy so far.
-
Hi ismailimail,
Can you share an example of a post where the paragraphs weren’t maintained? I’d like to take a closer look at that to investigate it further.
-
Not sure what you want me to share with you. I am not posting anything without fixing them first properly. Almost every website I am scrapping using new bookmarklet, is not maintaining the paragraph spacing. I am on Chrome/Windows10 if that helps.
-
Ah, sorry, I misunderstood. (I thought the issue was with paragraphs that you entered in the Press This editor being removed after you published the post.) I tried using Press This to share multiple paragraphs of a post, and I see what you mean about the paragraphs being joined together into a single paragraph.
Since the Press This feature is part of the open source WordPress project from WordPress.org, I reported that issue to the WordPress.org developers so they can look into it.
In the meantime, one way to approach using Press This is to share a single interesting paragraph from a longer page. Your readers can still click through to read the original source, without running into trouble with multiple paragraphs being reduced to a single paragraph.

hmm….no disrespect, but this is not making any sense.
I have 17,000+ blog posts here since 2006. I use PressIt Bookmarklet most of the time (I release daily blog posts). Now all of a sudden, you are telling me that what I have been using all along – which actually got upgraded, hence these issues – is something which does not belong to the platform I am at?
I have never gone after WP.org folks. All issues of WP.com gets resolved right here. Has something changed in the background recently which I am not aware of? You are not expecting me to abandon the use of this bookmarklet (it is unusable as I see it now), or are you? I have no way of keeping in touch with folks from outside of this platform here. And I am not expecting to hear from anybody else except the support right here.
It would be assuring if you were to tell me that you will follow up on this and will update this thread when it is fixed soon. It is irrelevant for me to worry about who fixes this issue under your umbrella.
I feel sad that a perfectly working feature is no longer working. Hope you will restore this service soon (I have patience and I can wait – no big deal).
Thanks.

I reported the issue to the team who developed the Press This bookmarklet — I will keep an eye on that report and let you know as soon as I know more about the status of that issue.

Some updates:
1) Inserting images through URL works. It just takes several more clicks compared to how it was in previous version.
2) Social media pings do not work if the bookmrklet is used to “publish” a post. The post does not show up on FB/Twitter etc if the Publish button is pushed through the bookmarklet. The only way it works, if I save the post as a Draft, go to the dashboard, and publish. -
Thank you for those updates. Our team is aware that publicizing to social media doesn’t currently work with Press This, and they are looking into that. If you’d like to get to the dashboard editor quickly, you can click the down arrow next to the publish button (in the Press This editor) and select “Standard Editor.” That will open the draft directly in your dashboard so you can finish and publish it there.
-
Yup, thanks, that’s a winner!
Now if I could only get you to fix the paragraph breaks (I can wait), I think I’ll be back in business.
Thanks.
