Updated description doesn't show on Facebook

I’ve updated my wordpress.com blog description and it works as it should on my blog. I’ve also debugged the site link using the Facebook debug tool, and it does show up with the new bescription on the debug page – bit once shared it’s the old description that shows. I’ve cleared all browsing cache and cookies more than once, and I’ve debugged my blog site link countless times by now. What to do???

Facebook might have it cached. (?)
Try using their debugger link and then click the “Fetch new scrape information” to see if that kicks it into picking up the newer info.

That’s what I’ve been doing. It shows up correctly on the debug page – the updated version – but as soon as it’s shared , even directly from the debug page, it comes out in the old version.

If the information is correct and updated on the WordPress.com side, then it is up to Facebook after that to adjust in their own time. It sounds like it may be cached on their side. You could try contacting them directly for support but I am not sure that’s an option and you may just need to wait a while until they pick up the changes similar to how it takes Google a while to re-crawl a site after it has been updated.

Yeah, usually it’s all solved after using the debug tool, and even when not it’s never been more than a day or two before Fb caught up. This issue’s been going on for weeks now… Thanks, let’s hope it’s just delay.

I went to https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object/ and entered the blog address https://sourcelight.wordpress.com/ and then clicked the og:description field shows up as:
FOOD FOR THOUGHT – AN ENERGY CHANNNEL AND HEALER’S VIEWS, PERCEPTIONS, EXPERIENCES AND PONDERINGS.
If Facebook shows that on their debugger page but doesn’t show that when the link is shared, it’s really up to them to fix it since it does appear to be coded and updated correctly on the WordPress.com side.

Yes. I assumed as much. But they don’t address individual issues, sadly. I was kinda hoping that perhaps I’d overlooked something that might be easily fixed on my end, I guess. Thanks for your engagement! :)
I did report the problem to Fb some time ago, with screenshots and all, but so far nothing’s changed.

Is the problem you are trying to solve that you want the link share to show up on Facebook correctly when you share it or when others share it? I think if you are sharing it, you can manually update the description by double clicking on it and modifying it. If you want to give that a try, I’d love if you reported back here to let me know if it’s a good workaround for you or not.

Interestingly enough I only just realised that it shows up just right – with the updated description – when shared in an Fb pm – but still with the wrong one when shared publicly on a page.
I have no idea how of to accomplish what you describe.. Double click what – and when? (lol) I’m using iMac, I might add in case that makes any difference. Double clicking a pasted, not yet shared, link does nothing what so ever on my side, and we know it can’t be changed once shared.
Sorry if I’m a bit daft, I’m NOT comp savvy… ;)

I’m using Chrome. When I paste in this link into Facebook, and before clicking the Post button, I can click on the description area and change it. I thought it might be worth a try. Here’s what it looks like in a small screenshot: https://cloudup.com/cPHabutDT4m

Editing the text like that also seems to be changing the text in previously shared links? Anyway, Thank You designsimply! :) :) -
