Hi I am managing a website for our research group. I read that there should be updates available at the dashboard but I never see any?. Is the only for paying members? How does this work? I may need the update though because of the new eu law. Please help. Best Sonja

Hi Sonja – What’s the URL of the site you are working on?

I dont have an app. I only have the online website on wordpress. nothing more. And then in the dashboard under message it says here are updates rolled out but I dont have an update link and I have a couple of links in my side view not as i says online. I wondered if that is then only for paid members. Does wordpress then updates their hosted pages automatically?
It all refers to the new eu data law. -
What site are you speaking of?
The open source WordPress software created by the community on WordPress.org had an update last week, 4.9.6, that contains some new privacy tools and features that site owners can use to export or delete data from their site if requested, and to add a privacy policy to the site.
However, those tools are not being made available on WordPress.com, as the types of data we collect and the way we collect it works differently, and those tools are not compatible with the way WordPress.com works.
Please see https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/about-the-gdpr/ for detailed information on what we’re doing at WordPress.com to comply with the GDPR, and also about the tools we’re making available to site owners to let them comply to requests from visitors to remove data collected by individual sites.
