Updates on themes

I use the “vanilla Sky” theme. I have updates that are listed for four other themes. I am not sure if I need to click on these updates. There is a message: “The following themes have new versions available. Check the ones you want to update and then click “Update Themes”.

Please Note: Any customizations you have made to theme files will be lost. Please consider using child themes for modifications.”

I do not know whether to update all or do not update. If I do not update, how can I get this update message to disappear from my dashboard?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It sounds like you have a site on a self-hosted version of WordPress, as your site at http://texasconflictcoach.wordpress.com/ hasn’t been updated and is running the Kubrick theme.

If that’s the case, we don’t have access to sites hosted elsewhere, so we can’t provide direct support for these sites.

See http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ for an explanation of the differences.

However, it’s generally safe to update themes if you haven’t made any changes to the CSS, though you may wish to go to the theme’s information page to confirm that you want the updated content (sometimes settings or design features can change with an update).

For additional assistance, you may wish to post in the WordPress.org forums, which is the best place to seek assistance for self-hosted WordPress sites.
