Updating Alt Text for posted images from the Media Library?

  My blog is comic-based and, as such, has a lot of text in jpeg files that isn’t doing any favors for searchability. If possible, I’d like to add Alt Text from the Media Library, but when I tried that it doesn’t seem to be pushed through to the images in the existing posts.

  The process of adding alt text and editing the posts to re-insert the image to finally repost is a drag. Is there a better way of doing this? Do I just need to be more patient with the WordPress servers?

  Just found that I can jump to the post’s text-edit from the Media Library and change it from there, but this doesn’t update the actual Media Library file. Still presents more work than ideal.
