Updating contact info question
-
Hello,
I just got a new email hosting provider and have configured all my DNS settings for the blog according to their instructions so that everything goes to this new email address. I then went to test the notification settings for comments, social shares, and also the Contact Form on my blog’s menu, and to my dismay, the only notification I received was of the comment pending approval. Did I do something wrong, or does it just take some time for each of these to get routed to my new inbox?
Also, is there some kind of checklist available for what needs to be changed on a blog when you update/change your email? I just want to make sure I covered all my bases.
Thanks in advance!

Hi there!
DNS changes can take several hours to take effect, so you should check back in now.
Also, we do not recommend using an email address that relies on your registered domain to manage your blog. If your domain expires, you’ll lose access to all of the correspondence from WordPress.com about your domain and your site. It will also make it incredibly difficult to regain access to your account if you forget your password or need to contact us for support since we use the main email address on file for your account.
Let me know how I can help further!

Thanks for the reply – already done. It appears I needed to manually go in and change the email address the “Contact” form was routed to w/in the form itself..I imagine something went squirrely and it didn’t auto-update as to where to send the notifications when the new DNS changes took effect.
The only thing I am still noticing is a substantial lag time between someone filling out the “Contact” form or leaving a comment on my blog and when the notification for either actually winds up in my inbox. I don’t know if this a lag on WordPress’s end, or if I need to tweak something else so the notifications get routed to me faster, but we’re talking hours of lag time. Any advice?
Thanks also for the additional info – noted and taken under advisement!

Great! I’m glad everything is working now. :)
There shouldn’t be that amount of lag time from WordPress.com for those notifications. You may want to check in with your email host about it.
