Updating DNS after Site-Mapping/Changing blog URL
-
I have read every WordPress support blog on how to update the DNS after changin and site-mapping a new URL. Last night, I changed http://www.sixteenandsuccessful.org to http://www.vipflair.com. I did everything (changed it on wordpress, paid for the site map, etc); however, I was told that I needed to update the DNS.
I am not sure if when I site-map via WordPress if it updates DNS for me or if I have to do it manually. My second question is, if I do have to update DNS, how do I go about doing that? I read the three “links” I have to put in the DNS but there are several options options when going to add a new link. I am confused on how the whole updating process works…please help!

Last night, I changed….
Hi.
Hold Your Horses!
It can take as long as 72 hours for DNS changes to become widely available. If you’re still not seeing your site loading at vipflair.com, please wait a few more hours, clear your browser cache, and try again.Non-WordPress.com Nameservers
Although vipflair.com has been registered, it is not using WordPress.com nameservers. If your domain is mapped to a self-hosted site, then your configuration may be fine as currently set up. If you wish to host your site at WordPress.com, you will need to update your nameservers as outlined below. To learn about how to correctly map an existing domain, please see our documentation. If you’re not sure whether you own this domain or not, the WHOIS database record may help you out.
We require that your name server configuration include only the following servers or their numeric equivalents:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
Your name servers are as follows:DNS7.HICHINA.COM
DNS8.HICHINA.COM
If you have access to change the nameservers for this domain, please remove all nameservers not on the required list above. -
Okay–so my question is if the stuff on my DNS currently read like this:
A vipflair.com handled by WordPress.com
NS vipflair.com handled by WordPress.com
CNAME *.vipflair.com handled by WordPress.comDo I need to change those to:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMThat’s really where my confusion is coming in…I have not been able to figure out that part. and if I do need to change those to the above wordpress ones…what do I put in the drop down boxes to the left of where the links go? I am sorry that I am so blonde as to how all of this works, but I have never had to change my domain before…I have only created new websites.

I may have just figured out one of the problems; however, it does not help me fix the problem. On my managing of the domain for http://www.vipflair.com, there is no “name servers” link on the left-hand menu. I only have “email” and “edit DNS” on both of those there is a message that reads “Your nameservers need to be set to NS1.WORDPRESS.COM and NS2.WORDPRESS.COM for these DNS records to work. If you have already updated the nameservers you can ignore this message; it will stop appearing soon.”
How do I go about updating nameservers if there is no menu link to do that?

You need
a) purchase the domain mapping upgrade
b) change the namerserversSee here:
