  Just what does this mean, ‘Updating failed. Sorry, you are not allowed to assign the provided terms.’ some more info would be helpful.

  I was trying to save a post I was writing, kept getting that message.
  Eventually it saved…. ?!

  I guess you you can mark it [SOLVED].

  If you are using Chrome it can be the case that your WordPress.com “login cookie” is damaged, which would lead to the error message you are seeing.

  Normally you can clear your cache and cookies to fix this, but the cookie also has an expiration date (a new one if fetched automatically when this happens) which seems to be the case here.

  If you see this again please try to clear your cookies and cache first, and if it persists after that please let us know!
