Updating from 3.9 to the new WordPress 4.4.1

  Hi WP peeps,

  I have the website it’s all WordPress as simple set up – no eCommerce etc. – but currently needs updating from 3.9 to the new WordPress 4.4.1 before I add a new plugin.

  I’ve had a “Small” falling out with my web guy … As you do.
  I so I’m wondering what the consequences if I automatically update the site myself.
  The site has been backed up on Jan 21st – some of the widgets and plugins also have requested updates as well.

  So my question is can a novice like me click automatic update to the 4.4.1 and hope that all I have to adjust is some widgets, plugins, text and images or is WordPress more complicated than that.
  Do I need a WP wizz to assist?
