Updating front page with latest posts?

I have a book blog. Currently I have 153 posts, but it will increase quite rapidly. When opening my blog, all posts appear on the same page. How do I make a first page with only the latest 5-10 posts on display? And updating while I write new posts? I still want to be able to find the posts by the tags and categories widgets. Some posts have more than one categorie.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

“How do I make a first page with only the latest 5-10 posts on display?”
You need to disable the auto infinite scrolling feature. To do this, you first need to go to Appearance > Widgets and add some widgets in the footer area. If you don’t really want any widget on the footer area, add a blank Text widget. Then go to Settings > Reading, uncheck the option “Scroll Infinitely”, enter the number you prefer next to “Blog pages show at most”, click Save Changes.

“And updating while I write new posts?”
You don’t have to do anything: happens automatically.

Thank you for your help :) I thought it would be much more complicated!
