Updating my blog
-
I’ve noticed that some of the features on the dashboard have stopped working and I wonder if I’m using an old version of the software. So I have a few questions:
1. How do I check what my current version of wordpress is?
2. How do I go about updating it?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
As you have a WordPress.COM hosted site, you should always be running on the lastest version of the software.
What features have specifically stopped working?
-
That’s what I thought!
Alright after logging in I’m on my home dashboard page. If I click on Site stats, none of the bar graphs show up like they used to. And there’s a button that says I should check out the new wordpress.com homepage. But whenever I get sent there, I just have a blue header at the top of the page with: Readers, Stats, My Blogs, Freshly Pressed…but none of those buttons work. It’s just a blank page on everything.
I also can’t add tags to my post for some reason. I type them in, with commas separating them and click on add, but nothing happens. On top of all of that my theme has changed a little, I don’t know if that’s on wordpress’ side or if the theme author discontinued the theme or what.
Needless to say I’m very confused as to what is going on hahaha.

@annedork
G’day to you. :)@vultirnus
Staff do all software upgrades at WordPress.com. We bloggers do nothing. In fact this platform is on continuous roll-out and new WordPress versions are always up and running here for a month before they become available to WordPress.ORG users. -
Do not log-in on the front page of WordPress.com. Do not create posts here > http://wordpress.com/#!/post/
Instead I recommend you ONLY log-in directly you your own blog and ONLY create posts and edit them here > Dashboard > Posts > Add New
If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
Note: If you are using an IE9 browser in compatibility mode that makes it render as IE7 and IE7 is not supported. To disable see > http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html
If you are, please do these four things:
1. Try clearing your browser’s cache http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
2. Make sure that you have third-party cookies enabled http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/
3. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.
4. Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
If you are not successful let us know exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using and post any error reports you get.

I would definitely take her advice, and get back to us on whether things are still broken!

Yeah! I connected that from the same-looking avatar :) I’m new to helping out around here, I apologize for all the bumbling about ;)
Great to hear! :)

@annedorko
Yes, I use the same gravatar for both accounts so people don’t get confused.
You aren’t bumbling. :) However, you may want to link your WordPress.com username account to a free hosted WordPress.com blog.
