Updating my website PHP and update security to https

  • Unknown's avatar

I have a website, sinicaloptomist.com. I have a message to update the PHP and to https for security, but there are no links on how to do it or to do it. I only get links on why I should do it. I am not sure if the website is through WordPress.com or .org. I tried .org but it doesn’t recognize my email address yet the support link always brings me to that page. I have setup a website through the .com under the business plan but I have not paid for it yet.

  • Hi @mikehall1216

Can you please check the website address you provided? The domain sinicaloptomist.com is showing up as unregistered. Once that’s sorted, it will be easier to figure out if you’re on WordPress.com or WordPress.org.

I have a message to update the PHP and to https for security

Hi there, it’s highly unlikely that this message would appear on a WordPress.com website since all sites here already run on HTTPS and our Happiness Engineers take care of any PHP updates for us. But as staff-cara said, please let us know the exact site address.

Keep in mind that this support forum assists users with free websites hosted on the WPcom platform. WPcom (where we are ) and WP are separate entities with different documentation and support forums. More information about the differences can be found here: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

In case you need help with a site using the open source WP software, head over to https://wordpress.org/support/ where you’ll find documentation and users who have more experience with the software you are using. The two forums (ORG/COM) are not connected, so you would need to register a new username for the ORG forums if you don’t have a username there and you can register one on the top of that page..
