Updating old posts
-
I would like to know whether it is possible to add updates to old posts, and if so, can the updates then be mailed/fed to subscribers?
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi. According to this, your email subscribers will NOT be notified that you updated an existing post.

I heard that Google Reader will show the most recently updated posts first (just as if they were newly published). Perhaps another volunteer who is more Google Reader-savvy can confirm?

The workaround to the email is to update the older Post then do one of two things – put a text Widget in the sidebar with a title of “Recently Updated” and put a link to the updated Post – no email is sent but visitors will see that you have updated something.
The other option is to make a new Post with a short not that you have update and older Post with great new expanded info – the greatest thing since white sliced bread with preservatives etc and have a link in the new Post to the update Post.

The second option adds a teensy bit of SEO to the old post, too. The sidebar option doesn’t, because those links are NoFollow.

Wow – just woken up to all these suggestions – thank you all very much. I think I will adopt auxclass’ second idea.
Many thanks again to everyone.
