Updating PHP on website

Our WordPress site needs to be updated to the latest version, this past Fall our Hosting company did it automatically the site experienced severe issues, working with the host company we discovered that the website’s Theme can’t go above 5.6.40 and so the company dropped the website back down which resolved the website’s issue. I was investigating the ways to bring the site up to the needed PHP level and made some updates to the Theme, I ran the PHP compatibility checker plugin (I know it’s not foolproof) and it says that it can now handle at least 7.3 PHP. I went to the hosting company’s site to update the PHP and found that the site is now already at 7.4. However, on the WordPress side the notification saying that the website’s PHP requires updating remains. I’m wondering if this is something that can be dismissed or am I missing something? Is there something else I can check?

Hi there, I see several WordPress.com websites listed under this account, but what is the address of the site involved?

Keep in mind that these forums you’ve posted to assist owners of free websites hosted on WordPress.com. In case you need help with a site using the open source WP software, head over to https://wordpress.org/support/ where you’ll find documentation and users who have more experience with the software you are using. If you don’t have a username on the ORG forums you can register one on the top of that page.

  • Hi @justjennifer! Out of curiosity, how can you see @taracicora’s sites?

Hi @fstat – Part of moderator permissions. Sites are listed if I look at the backend of the original poster’s forum post. Hope that explains it, but let me know if you need anything else. :)

  • Ah, thanks for clarifying! Sometimes we forget. :)

    Hi @JustJennifer

Sorry for the delay in response, I thought I would be notified when someone responded, apparently not, the website is: http://bridgetobridgerealestate.com/.

I don’t think there will be any problems. Did you find a solution?

@taracicora But that site is over there on Bluehost servers, not hosted here at WordPress.com. You’ll need to register an account and ask at the correct support forum for the software that site uses as you were advised by @justjennifer days ago

  • Ah okay. That’s definitely hosted through Bluehost rather than our services, but you can find help here:
