Updating tags – getting error message

So if I click on the subheading “Post Tags” under “Posts” on my Dashboard, it would appear that I SHOULD be able to update my tags I so desire (which I do). I type in the updated tag, and I get a message “Tag not updated”. What gives? I’ve also tried deleting old tags and adding a new one in individual posts, and it’s not accepting the change.
What gives x2?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Thanks for the quick reply, but I’ve fiddled with the various features listed on that entry…I don’t think I’m doing anything incorrectly…it’s simply not accepted my changes.

Okay then let’s run through some possible causes. Try force refreshing your browser and clearing your cache and cookies and then signing in again. http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/
Which browser and version of it are your using?
Have you had a recent anti-virus and/or security update? -
Refreshed, logged out, cleared cache/cookies, signed in. Sam problem persists.
I’m using Internet Explorer 8.
I don’t recall any updates, but I don’t pay much attention to them, if it says there’s an updated I just click “ok” and move on to other things…

That would be “same” problem. (Sam is not giving me any grief at the moment, just my $%^ tags).
Is it possible I’m expecting it to do something it’s not intended to?
Like, if my tag is, “dog” (lowercase d) and I want to change it to “Dog” (capitol), I should be able to, right? Or if I want to change the word alltogether, (from common to scientific terminology, e.g., “Fly” to “Diptera”)?

I has no problems doing everything you said immediately above and in the OP. It will take time for Staff to get to your blog so how about downloading Firefox 3.5.7 and seeing if you can do these things. Call it a hunch if you will.

If you don’t have any browser issues, then the only case a tag will refuse to be edited is when you’ve got the same word or phrase as a category too. You’ve got at least four of those: Country life, Family, Teaching, and Uncategorized.
You should realize that tags and categories are exactly the same thing, so there’s no point using the same word or phrase as both a tag and a category, plus you get technical problems if you do (such as the one you’re facing).

Thanks for the help folks…yes, I know the tags and categories are the same thing…it’s a throwback from when I was working with blogspot and had no categories…it’s just the “dump” of info, but I’m working to clean it up now. I hadn’t actually tried to edit any of those tags/categories you listed, so I don’t think that’s the issue here.
I’ll try firefox and see what happens. If that’s a no-go I’ll contact support.
