Updating to 6.1 from 5.1 crashing everything

  • Unknown's avatar

Our wordpress website (www.remelife.com, a newspaper theme) says that it is running WordPress 5.2.17 | PHP 7.4.33 | LiteSpeed | MySQL 8.0.32
    Php we’re using is 7.4
Whenever we try to update plugins or yesterday, to plug in Yoast premium, it crashes the whole website disasterously.
But we must get all the plugins working so we must upgrade to WP 6.1
Can any advise if this is possible and if so, how to do it?
    Thanks

  • Hi there,

This site isn’t hosted with WordPress.com, so our support overall is limited in this instance, but if it were hosted with WordPress.com, where updates are run automatically, we’d be more than happy to help.

To explain, there are two types of WordPress. The first is WordPress.com, where we provide daily backups, automatic updates, a 24/7 support service, and an optimized version of WordPress. The second is self-hosted WordPress, where the free, open-source version of the software is installed onto a server. More on the differences can be found here:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

It’s possible to migrate the site over to WordPress using our migration plugin, and the site would need to be on the Business plan.

    I hope this helps.
