Updating twitter from wordpress.com blogs

I have a couple of WordPresss sites which I host elsewhere and it was quite easy to work out how to get new post at the blog to trigger a Twitter posting.

Is it possible to do the same with blogs hosted by Automattic? I’ve searched the forums and there’s plenty of advice about how to do this the other way round (Twitter feeding into wordpress.com – eg http://tinyurl.com/ao87nk) but I couldn’t find anything that covers what I want to do.

My main blog is hosted here so it would be good to sort this out.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Unfortunately it’s not possible at this moment in time to update Twitter from WordPress.com.

    My apologies.

OK, thanks for letting me know.

It would be great if WordPress can work this fix out for wordpress.com users. Thanks!

There’s a service twitterfeed.com that you might want to check out.

Would it be possible to add a twitter ID/password field and have this option available to users who comment to also post their comment to their twitter account, too ?

I have managed to use TwitterFeed to make a WordPress blog update a Twitter account via the RSS feed. It was quite easy to do, and I can recommend TwitterFeed pending a WordPress native solution.

What I would like to do is place a link on the WordPress home page directing Twitter users to follow our Twitter feed. Has anyone cracked that please?

I do not want to use the widget provided, as all that will do is set up a weird circular thing, with the blog updating Twitter with tweets that then appear on the blog – all we want to do is attract some followers!
