  • Hi! I see you’ve got quite a few static pages on the site, but don’t see a menu for navigating to them from your front page.

Ideally, would you like the front page of the site to show your most recent work? Or are you hoping to organize a series of menus or some other hierarchy to reach the different pages? Please confirm so we can point you in the right direction.

If that is what you have in mind, I’d recommend changing your pages into posts first. There are a few ways to go about it, but copying and pasting each page into https://wordpress.com/post, publishing the article, then doing it again for the next one is the least fussy option.

Then, you would opt to show posts on the front page of the site. The simplest way to do that is from this page — choose Latest Posts instead of Static Page, save the changes, and you’ll be all set.

Or, if you have other ideas in mind (like if you want to show a list of titles or a grid of posts, for example) we can certainly help with that, too. Just let us know what you’re hoping for and we’ll help you make it happen.

    Hello,

Thank you for your response! Looking to have a main menu and then sub-menus navigating to the different pages?

  • Right. No problem. Keep in mind that linking too many pages in a menu can look confusing and also impact site performance. It’s not wrong to set things up the way you’ve mentioned but it’s something to be mindful of.

When I click on the site I can see main menu items and sub menu items. Do you still need help? Or were you able to get those organized how you wanted?

I’d love to know more about your goals for the site. Do you plan on booking appointments or selling products? We want to help you get the most of your online presence.

    Hello,

The menu is in the layout that is needed. The issue is that the website is not updating with the information and old submenus are still there?

    Thanks for clarifying!

It looks like the menu you’ve been working on is here, correct?

This menu can be edited via the Customizer.

However, since you have a theme that uses the Full Site Editor, a menu can be configured there as well. Since the menu set there will override any you set in the customizer, that’s why your changes haven’t been updated on the front end.

You can set the menu you’ve been working on by going to Appearance > Editor and editing your header and footer. Choose the menu navigation block and in the right-hand column, click the gear icon which will show other options, including a “Menu” option. Click that drop down which will show an option to import a classic menu (which is the one you’ve been making changes to):

Once you make that change, make sure to save the changes to the header and footer template and that should take care of the issue.

Let us know if you still have trouble!
