  I want to upgrade, but do you break up the $299 in monthly payments, or do you have to pay the whole thing at one time?

  You will have to pay the full cost of the upgrade upfront.

  Do you really need the Business upgrade? Perhaps you can upgrade to Premium which costs of $99. Have you check the Premium plan: http://store.wordpress.com/plans/

  http://www.mysideofthesimplelife.com/ – is not hosted on WordPress.COM so any upgrade here would be useless to your site and would do nothing except cost you some money

  An upgrade would only be relevant if you are planning on moving your blog to WordPress.COM
